Homeroom Happenings:
Science - We will work on finishing chapter 3 this week. The essential question of lesson 3 is..."How do living things of the past compare with those of today?" The children will take an open-book quiz on the information in lessons 2 & 3 on Thursday. We will also fill out a "how to study" sheet on Thursday. The chapter 3 test will be on Tuesday, January 19.
*
Social Studies - We will spend this week learning about the Civil War and then the Civil Rights Movement. Students will be taking a quiz on chapter 7, lessons 1-3 on Friday. We will not be taking a test on chapter 7.
*
Spelling - No spelling this week due to IOWA testing.
*
English - We will continue our unit on Adjectives. The students will work on making comparisons using "er" and "est". We will also compare with more and most & good and bad. English lessons will be on Monday, Thursday, and Friday this week. On Tuesday, January 19, we will fill out a "how to study" sheet for Unit 4. The test will be on Friday, January 22.
*
Reading - We will be reading and doing activities to go with a story from our anthology called Happy Birthday, Dr. King! This story reviews the beliefs and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rosa Parks. This is the perfect story to read for two reasons:
*We will be celebrating Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 18.
*In social studies we will be learning about the Civil Rights Movement.
What great connections we will be able to make!
