Social Studies - Our chapter 10 open-book social studies test will be on Tuesday. We will also begin chapter 11 this week. The children will learn about the Navajo. They will also begin a research project on living in the dessert.

Accelerated Math - We will continue working with dividing by 2-digits. On Wednesday, the children will take a checkpoint review of dividing a 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-digit number by a 2-digit number. We will take a test on chapter 6 on Tuesday, May 12.

Spelling - We will be working on lesson 32 this week. I have decided to skip lesson 31 because it is very similar to lesson 30. Lesson 31 reviews plural possessives. This was covered in English already this year. Lesson 32 reviews words ending with consonant + le.

English - The children will be taking the adverb/prepositional phrase test on Thursday. All enrichment will be due on the day of the test. We will review for this test on Wednesday in class.

Poetry - The children will continue to work on their poetry books this week. We will visit the lab a couple times. On Tuesday, I will be leading a lesson on one more type of poem. The children will write a poem this day. This poem will be added to their poetry book. Please note that poetry books will be due on Friday, May 15.

Reading - We have now finished reading Harriet the Spy. The children will be taking an open-book and open-notes test on Tuesday. They will turn in their books after they complete their test. On Wednesday and Thursday, we will spend part of our time watching Harriet the Spy. We will take time to discuss the similarities and differences between novel and movie.
